Food Story

Groves’ food story had a rocky start. She grew up in rural Wyoming where there were few options for a child with an extensive list of food allergies. She had to drink oat milk before it was easily available (or cool). Despite the allergies and some questionable culinary experiments in her devoted mothers’ kitchen, she learned to love a variety of foods. Groves’ journey to becoming a Registered Dietitian and working in community nutrition has been informed by living with limitations and an awareness of how systemic barriers in food access impact wellbeing. It is Groves’ hope that her work contributes to a food system that improves peoples’ access to high-quality nutrition.
