Food Story

Born and raised in Darmstadt, Germany, Dougherty grew up experiencing a dichotomy: Germans place great emphasis on both hearty meals, such as Schnitzel and potatoes, and leading active lifestyles. This coupled with misleading social media content on unrealistic health, beauty and fitness standards, such as low-calorie diets and intense cardio, left her relationship with nutrition and physical activity complicated. After many years of following unsustainable workout plans and diets, Dougherty’s priorities shifted: She realized that food is fuel and started focusing on becoming physically stronger. Today, Dougherty prioritizes listening to her body and focusing on what feels best physically, nutritionally and mentally.
