Food Story

Growing up in small town Ohio, Cizek grew up in fast food lover’s paradise. She frequented all the popular chains, as did all her peers. While living in Botswana, Cizek found many parallels to the diets causing hypertension and diabetes in her small town. She soon joined the Food Security and Nutrition Initiative where she learned about water security issues, followed by instruction on building a permagarden, which allows plants to get sufficient water during drought conditions.
