Spring 2026 Nutrition Notes

A Message from our Executive Director

This April, we are observing National Move More Month. Established by the American Heart Association in 2018, Move More Month is designed to help improve the health of Americans through promoting physical activity, including recommendations for strength training (2 times per week) and 150 minutes of aerobic activity per week. As a woman over 50 years old, I am trying to incorporate more strength training into my physical activity routine. Move More reflects how we think about health at CNHI, knowing how important it is to make both incremental and big changes in physical activity and eating behaviors to promote lifelong health.

This also translates into our work to promote diet, physical activity, and other health promotion strategies for chronic disease prevention and management among priority populations. To continue advancing this type of work, we recognize the need to innovate and test new ideas, including investing in those generated by our talented and passionate staff. That is why this year, we embarked on the creation of a new CNHI-wide Innovative Research Project and Scientific Papers Funding Opportunity, where we will fund scientific teams at CNHI to conduct one research project and two papers.

Our goal at CNHI has always been to advance the field of public health nutrition. At the end of the day, we know that our progress depends on our ability to stay agile and keep moving. By supporting new innovative ideas and exploring the connections between nutrition and other health outcomes, we can reach that goal one step at a time.
